When many people are asked which BSA event they remember with most fondness they will answer “Jimmy Armfield’s 70th Birthday dinner”.

 

Held in a packed sponsors lounge at Bloomfield Road in September 2005 it was the party to end all parties to celebrate a Blackpool legend, BSA’s Honorary President and a true gent turning 70. Guest speaker on the night was BBC Radio Five Live’s chief football correspondent Mike Ingham who said that whilst he doesn’t normally do an event such as this he came and spoke for the “love of Jim”.

 

Over £3000 was raised for charities of Jimmy’s choice and a super night was had by all.
